Within your own church: Unity Youth Ministry Fast-Start Training Program, is a CD produced by your Association of Unity Churches and designed for use with all youth ministry volunteers and directors. Includes five units covering volunteer opportunities, praying with young people, preparing lessons, Unity basics, classroom and behavior strategies and more. A wonderful tool to use in your own church at your own convenience.
National: Child/Teen Ministry Week, held every summer during the C session of SEE (Spiritual Education and Enrichment) classes at Unity Village, MO. This week covers classroom management, developmental stages, curriculum and metaphysical interpretation for the different ages. Celebrating Children's Ministry: Creating the Magic A teacher Training Video by Marelu Marson that includes topics such as Creating Sacred Space, Shifting the Energy, Communication Strategies, Partnering with Parents and more.
Unity Youth Ministry Fast-Start Training This concise interactive computer training for Unity Youth Ministry volunteers contains five Training Units: Introduction, Prayer and Meditation, Sunday Lesson, Unity Basics and Other Program Essentials. It is designed especially for individual learning as well as for projecting for groups. Printable notebook pages, Resources list and an extensive Index are included. Requirements to view: a PC with Windows 98+, a display resolution of 1024 x 768, Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and a CD Rom drive. Will run only on MAC with OS10 or higher and Internet Explorer.
Nurturing Spirituality in Children This book, written by Peggy J. Jenkins, contains 50 object lessons that can be used by ministers for the children's lesson or by the youth director or teacher. Each lesson uses common materials to demonstrate and apply concepts in a way that is especially appropriate to children and suggests affirmations for each lesson.
Awakening the Fire Within This book by Dr. William Dols helps teachers learn in-depth about issue-centered education and how they serve as midwives in transformational teaching. You will understand more fully the power within stories for helping people learn from stories whether they are children's stories or Bible stories. This book provides considerable insight for Youth Education directors and curriculum writers and for those wanting to become Certified Spiritual Educators.
RISK MANAGEMENT The Southwest Region of Unity Churches and The Association of Unity Churches International strongly suggest and encourage individual Unity ministries to conduct background screening on all adults - either paid staff or volunteers - working with minors.
